Episode 239 Transcript:

Hi, it's your Ayurveda gal, Friday, Katie Silcox, coming to you with a special bonus episode. It's a bonus because we keep getting asked this question, and I was like, you know what? I'm going to put this out on the podcast. As you know, or may not know, our only thing we do all year is January 14th.

It is a one-year Ayurveda health coaching certification, but it's also so much bigger than that. It is Lady Get Your Life Together School. Get your soul together. Remember what really matters, school.

Why do our students pursue their Ayurveda certification?

I'd say about 50%, maybe even a little more, of the people that come just come for themselves, and I love that. Sometimes they go on to do great things with our degree that they never imagined they would be interested in doing, but they do because they want to support other people.

Probably 50%, 60% of the people come because they want to be an Ayurveda health coach or an Ayurveda health counselor in our second-year program. The question we get is, what can I do with my Ayurveda certification as an Ayurveda health coach? How are the women using their Ayurveda certifications that have already gone through the school? We get that question a lot. I love it because I'm all about purpose and practicality and soul, but also paying the rent.

Making Ayurveda Your Career

I love watching women make this into a career, supplement a career. Some people are making great money from it. It's really exciting.

The number one way that people make money, create a career, a platform around Ayurveda health coaching is the classic, private, one-on-one coaching in person or online. When you become an Ayurveda health coach, you can support your clients with their digestion, stress, sleep, nervous system balance, seasonal living, cooking, herbs, lifestyle, hormones. It's deep, personal, transformational work.

It's absolutely the way that I started off. I started off as a one-on-one Ayurveda health coach. I remember someone being like, do you really think that you're qualified? Which is the most ridiculous question and, interestingly, often gets asked to women. Can you imagine, are you really qualified for this?

Helping People With Your Ayurveda Certification

I remember a friend of mine being like, the majority of the world, at least the Western world, is eating terribly. They don't even know that you shouldn't be eating raw foods in cold water in the winter. People are so disconnected from the basics of diet, nutrition, mind-body type.

We help people. Just in that most basic way can actually change people's entire health profile. Number two, women's health, menstrual health, fertility health, perimenopause, menopause, fertility support, burnout, adrenal fatigue. The women who come to Shakti School care about this because they've gone through it. They may be even going through it. Western medicine is just a little bit supportive but sometimes kind of confused about this.

If you don't have good gut health, you can't balance everything downstream. If you have stress, you can't balance everything downstream. So many of our women help other women feel normal again in their body in the most natural way possible without any shame around things like hormone replacement therapy or birth control. We want to meet women where they are, right?

Professional Specialties Within Ayurveda

I've seen so many women get into the hormone health business after graduating Ayurveda school with their Ayurveda certification and they have a leg up because they understand root cause, root cause. Number three, companies really need wellness and burnout prevention methods. I had a student go into her corporate job and be like, look, we need to do lunch and learn and stress reset programs.

What if we taught people just about their basic mind body type and seasonal living, burnout recovery, and they were welcomed with open arms because companies want their staff to be well, right? It's not great if you have people in your organization that are constantly getting colds, flu, sickness, menstrual issues. So this is often a well-paid way that people can use their Ayurveda health coaching program. Another really cool thing, and I love this because we actually have one of our graduates in the school doing this with us.

One of our beloved graduates teaches in our school a group course on resetting your digestion, a six to eight week program, a one day events. There's a million ways you can do this, but group programs and online courses are huge and they're just growing. So this is an awesome way that people can do this and it's scalable and accessible and deeply, deeply empowering for communities.

Retreats and Other IRL Experiences

Another way is just the classic retreats, immersive experiences, women's circles, IRL. I really think IRL is growing and going to be big. I think it sounds so ironic to say this, but IRL, in real life, people want to touch grass with you.

They want to go somewhere with you. We see students creating weekend retreats, week-long immersions, just meet me for the full moon and we're going to just talk about our body, right? And our emotions. It's so beautiful to create these life-changing containers.

And when you do Ayurveda school and have your Ayurveda certification, you are going to have so many tools and methods and philosophies and content. You could do the rest of your life doing women's circles and retreats just with what you learn in one to two years at Ayurveda school. We also have doctors, nurses, physician's assistants come to Shakti School.

These are some of my favorite people. I'm thinking of one woman in particular. She did Ayurveda school. She was OG. She was like, I think in my 2018 class and she's a doctor. She's a doctor from my hometown and I won't say her name, but she went to her hospital.

She was like, yo, we got, she didn't say yo, she was like, we got to get Ayurvedic, you know, living, natural living into our methods, you know? And so we work alongside with functional medicine doctors, but also acupuncturists, massage therapists, social workers, chiropractors. Your Ayurveda certification is like this amazing thread that weaves all of the disciplines together because we start with, you know, the root of the root. And it's so interesting. People don't know that Greek medicine, which is the grandfather of Western medicine and Ayurveda were having conversations throughout time. So the roots of all of our medicine is Ayurvedic, you know?

Ayurveda Influencers, Content Creators, Authors

We also see people just blow up online. I've had students who have far surpassed me in terms of their online presence and their follower count and, and I don't feel jealous at all.

I feel so stoked. I'm like, hell yeah, look at her go, you know? Usually they're like the younger women that know how to do all this stuff, but we teach you, we teach you. We have a gal that is a part of our school who comes in and she teaches you how to blow up your social media if you want that path. So content creation, writing, education, get a blog, get a social media, get a sub stack. Women come on and start podcasts. They write books.

Right now I am working with two of my former students who are writing their books and I'm their mentor and I'm helping them one-on-one. It's just so fun to do this. So you might write a book.

Ayurvedic Prenatal and Postpartum Support

You never know. Another Ayurveda certification and professional goldmine as a coach is postpartum, prenatal and recovery support for new mamas, caregivers, people also who are just like recovering from a really rough illness or surgery or just total burnout. So caregiving, even end of life care, there's so much tender, spirit laden work in helping people through these sacred portals, right? Especially our single moms who just might not have a lot of support to be an Ayurveda health coach to help her. People really like struggling with a long term illness, we can go in and be that coach support.

Spiritual Ayurveda School

Another big thing that you're able to do with your Ayurveda certification through our training, which I think makes it really unique is we are a spiritual Ayurveda school. There's just no getting around it and it's intentional on my part.

We're not dogmatic. We're not religious. You can bring whatever religion and background you come from, but we are going to help you understand energy and digesting your emotions and tapping into your purpose and feeling your roadblocks, aka subconscious stuff that has like gotten in your way forever. We're going to help you with that. It's definitely more than anything. Our course is a personal development coaching platform.

Because of that, if you do the work and you show up, you're going to be able to do it for other people and you want to. It's inevitable, right? When your life has been touched and changed, you want to help others. This really blends beautifully with a lot of the women that come with backgrounds in yoga and meditation.

We have a lot of people wanting to do this as like therapy adjacent work. We get a lot of therapists, marriage and family therapists. It's just such an honor and so beautiful to add this really important frame for people's work.

Creating a Wellness Brand

Lastly, many of our coaches go on to create their own wellness brand after receiving their Ayurveda certifications. We have had so many women create really cool product lines like herbs and oils and essential oils, tinctures, potions, butters, balms. It's beautiful. Others have gone on to create their own education platforms, their own schools or memberships online, their own portals for mentorship. This is so beautiful.

Ayurveda can really just become this foundation of their big vision. The most important thing is that the women that choose to make this a career, I want you to know there is a huge demand for you and what you are going to learn in level one. If you're on the fence, hey, come on through.

Ready to Pursue Your Ayurveda Certification?

Write us an email, info at the ShaktiSchool.com. We can set you up as well with a real life human coach that can talk to you about if the school is right for you. I think this podcast is probably going out a few days before the class has begun. You may be listening to it after.

Just know you can sign up for Ayurveda school throughout the month. We still have our doors open, assuming that we didn't just blow up too many people. We'd love to have you, so it's not too late to still join level one, the Shakti School.

I hope to see your beautiful face in the Zoom! If you're a podcast listener, make sure to put that in the chat when you come. It's January 14th, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. This is coming up.

If you can't attend live, that is not a problem. You can watch it anytime, anytime after the class has happened. That goes for each week. We meet weekly, every single Wednesday. Ayurveda Wednesday, we call it.  We have a few breaks throughout the year. In general, we meet every Wednesday. We also have special Q&A sessions with an Ayurvedic practitioner, as well as incredible bonus classes, a community support group where you get to meet all your cool Ayurveda sisters from all over the world.

It is super fun. It's one of my favorite things about our school, is just how many international women we get. It's so beautiful, and we can all kind of hold hands. Kumbaya, I know, but it's true. Across the globe with all of our friends that have one common goal, and that's swasta, to be standing in the truth of who we really are. I can't wait to see you.

I hope to see you. Shoot me an email, info at theshockteaschool.com. We can make it happen for you. Now is the time!

See you soon.

Episode 238 Transcript:

Hello, hello, hello, it's your Ayurveda Gal Friday, Katie here.

Are you all up in this new year energy still? It's January 6th, you all, and today I am so excited to talk with you about archetypal vedic astrology and kind of my take and more of a depth astrological Ayurveda tantric understanding of astrology. Astrology is something that has really exploded in popularity and it's always been popular, but recently really exploded. And I always laugh when I hear these big astrological projections, whether it be online or in a newsletter or on a YouTube, it's like every single astrologer says the same thing.

Have you ever felt that way? And like no shade to any of them, like I have deep respect for those that deserve deep respect, but do you ever get the feeling where you're like every single astrologer is saying the same thing and that is there are going to be a lot of challenges coming up and big opportunities for transformation. If you've ever felt that way and you're like, you know, can we just have an astrology and it never happens? Do you ever just kind of want an astrology that's like, hey, so for the next two weeks, it's going to be super easy for all of us planetarily and especially you. You're going to have lots of ease and love.

Nothing bad is actually going to happen and yeah, just enjoy. See you in two weeks. Like it never is that.

It's always there's going to be this thing that happens. It's going to challenge you, but guess what? It's a growth opportunity. And I think really getting out of the minutiae for a moment, it's super important to remember that from a tantric perspective, how do I want to say this with the most respect? Vedic astrology is not a problem to be afraid of.

Vedic Astrology is Not Something to Fear

Astrology is not a dark force out there or born under a bad sign. I want to say this with all the love and respect, but when you are working in the light, when you are calling in higher power, when you are actively opening your heart to love, there is no force that can overcome you. And so that's a tall glass of sweet tea, right? That's a tall order.

And can it be helpful for us to understand just like the tides of the moon of the ocean of the seasons, is it helpful to know what's coming in the weather? Yeah, yeah, for sure. It helps us navigate the boat, right? But we don't want to become obsessed with the weather channel, right? Do you ever feel like, oh, I just want to go outside and enjoy. And so finding that balance between knowing what's ahead and the energies and the tendencies and the flavor and the weather patterns, I think can be really helpful.

Aligning With Your Own Subtle Energy

And I even think you don't have to believe in astrology at all, right? You can just be like, huh, let me use this as a Rorschach test that I can throw up on the wall and watch the way that my psychology and my body and my emotions respond to what I'm hearing. And the more you align with your own subtle energy and your own soul, the more I don't really need astrology as much as like a daily thing I'm checking on because I can feel, right? I can kind of just feel. I can feel myself.

I can feel the collective. And so we're going to talk about the tendencies of the weather pattern according to Jyotish Vedic Astrology, especially, which is the astrology that Tantra and Ayurveda are connected to. But first, before we do that, I want to talk about the more important thing.

An Invitation to Join Us in Ayurveda School

And that is listener. You've heard me say it. We only have a few more days until level one Ayurveda school begins.

I can feel you. I can feel the women that have already signed up. If that's you, OMG, yay. Make sure you shout out yourself as a podcast listener in the chat. On the 14th of January, we begin. It is an Ayurvedic health coaching platform.

We're going to teach you how to be an Ayurveda health coach, one of the best in the world at that. But it's also lady life school. It's soul school. It's feel more, do more, be more, love more school. It's amazing. It makes me cry. I'm so freaking proud of it. My team is stellar. My teachers are the best in the world.

And we are the world's only feminine form, women-centered Ayurveda academy. You will leave an Ayurveda coach. It's not only an Ayurveda academy, it's the best friends circle that you'll probably have forever if you bring yourself to it fully.

And the biggest blocks we get from people are twofold. One, can I afford it? And two, do I have time for it? On the affordability level, we have tons of payment plans and we have several needs-based scholarships left. They're partial scholarships.

It's super affordable. Hit us up, info at the shakti school.com. If your heart is feeling like you need to be in lady life school, that you want a team around you, a group of women from all over the world around you to ignite your soul's journey, swasta, to be situated in the heart of who you really are in 2026, guess what? You need support. You can't do it by yourself.

It's not possible. Sorry. Tried it. Didn't work. Thousands of women have tried it. It doesn't work.

The Importance of Community

We need a community and we need a community where we don't feel like we're breaking the rules and we don't feel like we're being told what to do. And yet we are, but from a place of us empowering ourselves to hear the voice of what our soul wants us to do. This place is secret because it's like an open secret.

It's like a secret lady club. Don't let money be an issue. Hit up my team, info at the shakti school.com. Like I said, we have several needs-based scholarships, partial scholarships left.

Our full scholarships are gone, but hit us up for payment plans. We make it happen for you. Secondly, do I have time for this school? Every woman that signs up is real. She's like you. She's like me. She's got a life. She's got a job. Many of our women have children. Many of our women are new moms. We've had pregnant women sign up for this. We've had women sign up and get pregnant. Very common. By the way, when you start to get into the Shakti, we have real people. Life is busy.

We have women that are like, my life is not busy. We secretly are jealous of those women. What's so great is this is both a live course that you can take every Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. Eastern time live. It's super fun.

I'm your teacher for the first two months. Then I pop in and out all throughout the year. I'm one of your main teachers. We have teachers from all over the world. The live energy, I'm not going to lie, it's amazing. We want you there live if you can be.

I would say over half of the women that come to Ayurveda school, they don't come live. They do it when they can. They fit it into their busy lives and their busy schedules. They make it happen. They come live if they can. This is very much meant to be a self-guided course that you can integrate into your daily life with ease.

Don't doubt if it feels real for you. Come this year, 2026. Let's now talk about the astrology of the time and why it is a powerful year for us, for all of us, but especially for doing something like Ayurveda school.

Ayurveda school is a portal. It's a powerful entry into an upgrade, an energy upgrade, a DNA upgrade, as the young mystics call it.

Getting Out of Your Own Way

This is the year to get out of the old way of doing things. Raise your hand, podcast listeners, if you're like, oh my God, it feels like I'm thinking the same thoughts every day. I'm living out the same patterns. I'm doing things.

I'm nonstop working, but it's not getting different or easier. That is the mental body. I've always been really comfortable in the intellect and in the thinking world.

It's my go-to. It's where I feel safe. It's where I feel like I have some control.

I know some of you listening, I know you because I know the women that listen to this and come to Shakti school. You guys get in your head and you're usually really smart, or we think we are. I just want you to know overthinking and general is beautiful.

Overthinking, not so much. It's not the fullness of who you are. My teacher always would say to me, we think our thoughts are so real and we don't want to touch this woo-woo stuff of our primal Shakti, our energy and our heart's knowingness and our etheric templates and all this woo-woo stuff.

We don't want to do that. That's not real. That's not as real.

Then we go back to the real world of doing stuff and thinking and planning and not doing stuff and laying around and numbing out and watching TV. There's this whole other dimensionality to you. That's what 2026 is about.

It is about last year and we're still in it for a few more weeks and then we're going to hit the ground. Last year was the year of serpentine energy, shedding, shedding, shedding, shedding, shedding the old skin in 2026, especially March, April, May. That's the energy of the horse like we talked about in a past podcast.

Last Year's Energy According to Vedic Astrology

So it's like a big, big, unusual and powerful shift that goes from closing doors and like your old contracts. What does that mean? It means like the old way that you're used to doing everything with everybody, the way you're used to relating to your partner, the way you're used to relating to your kids, the way you're used to relating to yourself, money, all those old contracts, especially karmic contracts, meaning I got to go in there. I got to do this thing that I've done a million times.

I got to repeat it over and over and over again. Guess what? I'm going to do the same thing I always do and something new will happen and it doesn't. Then you're like, oh, it didn't work.

Well, let me try again, maybe with the same person in the same way over and over and over again. Have you ever had a fight with your man or your partner and you're like, oh my God, we are in the same dynamic we've been in over and over and over again. I feel like I don't even know what we're talking about, but I'm expecting something good to happen.

That's last year's energy. Right now we're supposed to be like, and my heart is like opening as I'm telling you guys this because it is so humbling to the ego. It often requires feeling things that we haven't felt.

Seeing things about ourselves that we haven't seen. Admitting things that are not super yummy town about ourselves that we haven't admitted. Blind spots, right? Your friends and your boyfriends and your partners are like, oh yeah, I've seen that about you, homie.

That's 2025 burning. I mean, y'all know my house burned down. By the way, I'm getting text messages, emails, Instagram DMs. By the way, I read them if you DM me on Instagram. Y'all, thank you. I'm getting messages now from the smartest loving people because they're like, hey, I know you got a lot of messages two months ago, but how are you now? That is the 2025.

Closing Old Doors and Transforming the Shadow

It's like your house burned down and now you're picking up the ashes and the pieces and now is like actually when you're having to see what's left from the rubble. And so this is about closing doors and reconfiguring. If we take this opportunity to personally have a revolution, but also societally and culturally, there's like this momentum.

Psychologically, socially, spiritually, we close the doors. It's like a threshold year, this 2026. It's like culminating a big old cycle where our beliefs and our conditioning reach their tipping point.

Let me just describe what this feels like for me. And what the ancients say, it feels like your soul has become weary, tired of certain things. And you're just like, you finally get so tired that you shift, you upgrade.

That's the thing. You can't bypass it. And there's often in that seeing your blind spots and seeing your conditioning, there's so much grief.

I'm amazed. I'm like, what is all this grief? I'm not even sad about anything. What the F? And you don't have to know what it is.

So just know there might be anger, there might be fear, there might be grief, but that's good. As we open to it, we transform the shadow of being a victim to being free. This is a big evolutionary current for 2026.

The Overarching Energy of 2026 According to Vedic Astrology

It's freedom. And go forth, young woman, and prosper. So a big focus on relationships right now, emotional honesty, embodiment, vulnerability, hashtag Brene Brown, yup. Fastest path to decoding your own shadow is just sitting with what is here. And homegirl, I know that can be hard because sometimes I sit down, I'm like, okay, okay, I'm ready to open to what's here. And I can't even feel anything.

Y'all know what I'm talking about? Or I'm like, I feel fine, but I'm not able to access something that's been hidden from me or dormant for so long. And the more I just sit and the more I stay, and the more I'm open and honest, the more slowly, slowly, slowly, it's like, oh, all this grief is here. All this emotional honesty.

And here's the other Vedic Astrology piece I want to share with you. And this is, this is super challenging, but we're going to do it. You guys, we have to, we're here to do it.

I am going to open to this feeling in me, irrespective of the outcome, irrespective of if I get the money, irrespective of if I get the job, irrespective of if I get the love from my partner that I don't feel like I'm getting, irrespective of if I get the praise or the accolades or the degree, like I'm going to do this no matter what the outcome. You know what I'm saying? That's where you erase that way that all of us are subtly manipulative and subtly aggressive with reality. It's like, oh, I'll open, but I'm doing it so I can feel good and you'll like me more.

That's gone, right? It's like embodied presence, emotional honesty, non-blaming, non-manipulating, no matter what the outcome. This is the turning point in human consciousness that I think is coming forward really strongly in 2026. So we're closing one door, but we're opening the inner door and in Ayurveda from the lens of Jyotish, which means to bring light to.

2026 Planetary Alignments and Their Energy

According to Vedic Astrology, here's the great, great, great news in 2026. Jupiter, which is a big bad-ass planet, is going to be in Gemini and around May, June 2026 going into Cancer and then later in the year in Leo. I love Leo.

I'm double Leo and double Cancer, by the way, and that's super fun, as you can imagine opposites. So Jupiter in Gemini is like, right now, we're going to be starting the year focusing on communication, learning, teaching, and mental expansion, intellectual expansion, curiosity, networking, studying, and skills building. Talk to your mama about January.

Ayurveda school, not trying to sell my course, but you know I am, girl. This is the time to start Ayurveda school. It's so exciting.

Jupiter is going to bring communication, learning, teaching, mental expansion, curiosity, networking, study, skills building. That is literally what we do. That is Ayurveda school.

And then May, like throughout May, June, we're going to go into Cancer and that's that mama love sign, babe. We're going to shift towards even more emotional wisdom, family, home, feeling of belonging, nurturing, inner security, protection, instincts, right? Soft crab, hard outer shell. We're going to open up to that softness, right? While setting up good boundaries, our home, our food sadhanas, our sense of safety and security, protection, like that is so perfect for May and June.

And then Jupiter is going to move into Leo, which is all about expression, leadership, confidence, self-expression, and big, bold, new projects. So I'm just looking at this through the lens of us who are taking the journey in 2026 in Ayurveda school. It's like learn, learn, communicate, connect with all these new, cool people.

May, June, we're going to feel it all because we got to do that. And by the time we're done with Ayurveda school, I'm going to be prepped and ready to rock to express boldly, right? Leadership, confidence. I always talk about Ayurveda leadership in our school.

So the year is set up for us, my friends. We've also got Saturn and Pisces. And Saturn is the archetype of the disciplinarian.

It feels like he's a negative planet, but in Vedic Astrology he's not. He's the part of reality that says you need to do your non-negotiables daily. I just went and did a neti pot.

Girl, I don't like doing neti pot. I'm going to get on the bio mat in a minute and do castor oil on my belly and rose all over my body. I don't need to be doing abhyanga if my ego chooses, but my soul needs it.

So that's Saturn. It's saying structure, but I'm doing this because of compassion. And so this planet in Jyotish, we call Shani, is about discipline, maturity, boundaries, and it's in Pisces.

So that's like compassion, but pushing us to ground our spiritual ideals in practical life, long-term planning, deep inner maturity. How do we stabilize our spiritual practices? Because for me, there can sometimes feel like a split between our spiritual life and our daily life, and that's really no bueno. You want to have patience, perseverance, pacing, not rushing, but integrating everything we're learning on that soul level into the fabric, right? That's Tantra.

The Rahu-Ketu Axis in Vedic Astrology

And then we have this Rahu-Ketu axis. So Rahu and Ketu are these nodes in astrology, the North and South nodes, and they are a doozy man. Rahu and Ketu, one of them has no head and one of them has no body.

So it's like all the ways you're going to get your ego, your head, chopped off. And then no bodies, like all the ways that we feel like disconnection and disembodiment, they're rough. They're not fun, but they're really where we get our deepest lessons, right? And so Rahu is going to be an Aquarius, and this is about innovation, community building, technology, unconventional thinking, like breaking out of the old way and bringing in new structures, new ways of doing things.

Ketu and Leo is inviting us to detach from our ego-centered ambitions and invite in real purposeful soul level, higher level heart-centered contributions. So I am less focused on how this is going to help me and mine and more on how can I be of service to the greater reality. So that's a big one.

And then at the end of the year, it's going to move into Aquarius, and that's about big time, like the everybody, not just us. So right now, December to March, we are invited into a retrograde that's accessing inner review. Vedic Astrology tells us that right now is a wonderful time to really, like I said, same as that beginning part of this talk, like what is the old way of doing things and why am I trying to keep that going? And it often is not what we think it is.

Learning Through Our Energy

So what we think worked well, what we got validation from in the past, what we got intellectual accolades or stimulation from in the past, like communication styles, even the way we think about learning, right? We have to ask people in Shakti school, like, hey, we're going to learn a traditional way. You're going to have books and courses and exams and level one, you know, great structure that many people are familiar with, but we're also going to learn in a totally different way. We're going to learn through our heart.

We're going to learn through our energy. We're going to learn through our body and our calm and our silence and our intuition and our friends. Like we're going to learn in different ways.

And that is like what belief systems need to be let go of or refined and what wisdom from the past was valid and needs to be held and revisited. And so the core Vedic Astrology energetics for 2026 is that kind of horse energy that's going and doing, but also balancing with that inner growth, right? Inner knowingness. Saturn, you know, we need real world discipline.

So right now, strategically planning steadiness, long-term vision, and not reactivity or impulsivity. Yeah. So like, what do I want my life to look like a year from now? And that's why I'm always like with our course level one, we are going to help you really, really systematize.

You'll have the tools, the techniques so that a year from now, we aren't just setting a new year's intention that we forget by February 15th, right? We are going to be giving a structure through which your Shakti, right? Your highest energy can flow through. We've got big time karmic activation and dissolution opportunities, right? Big purpose being fulfilled through breaking old patterns. We're not trying to bring in anything new. We're just clearing out what is not supportive.

Letting Go of The Outcome

And I really love this. Another big theme is integration over achievement, meaning less worrying about the outer goal and more opening to soul level shadow integration.

Meaning success is not going to be measured by just like a number on a page or the results externally, but how integrated, conscious, loving, purposeful, integrity filled your actions are, right? And so how you can start to work with this now is really get into your morning practice, whatever it is that you do for energy, for clarity, for emotional balance. We do energy-based meditation at the Shakti School. You're going to learn all about the basics of energy and energy meditation in our level one course.

Prep your food in the if you can. Really grounding foods, steady sleep, friendship rituals, you know, exercise. That is super important, right? That's that Saturn energy.

Use the first half of this year for learning and the second half for heart aligned expression. And that is exactly what we're going be doing this year in level one Ayurveda school. It's all about Jupiter retrograde for reflection, inner work, and then let's go energy for the latter part of the year.

Episode 237 Transcript:

Happy, happy New Year, baby. What is up, y'all? It's your Ayurveda gal Friday here, Katie Silcox. I'm sitting here with Ojas. Naughty, naughty. Listen, she is looking at me like, you know what, mom? I'm going to bark. I'm going to bark my ass off during your podcast. So, hey, she's here, y'all. If you hear some barking, it's Ojas. As 2025 has come to a close, I want to let you know that there is light, there is hope, there is newness.

It is the year of the horse. We talked about it in the last podcast. If you didn't hear my sweet little podcast on Christmas, please go listen to it. And it's not like, oh, it's so good because I did it and I'm great. I mean, yeah, I am great. But like, go listen to it because it's so sweet. And there's this beautiful meditation at the end.

2025 Was The Year of The Snake

Anyways, the year of 2025 for me was bonkers and beautiful. And I fell in love. And I also fell out of love. And I fell in love again. And I fell in love with this new person in my life called my own heart. And then I fell out of love. And all of that happened, by the way, in one day and every day. And I also did meet someone great.

And a lot of beautiful, beautiful experiences happened for me in 2025, including the experience of unbelievable love and support and resources known and unseen and unknown just come to me. And also, as you all know, my house burned down. And, you know, everything I owned, basically.

I should stop saying my house burned down. It didn't totally burn down, but you all know what I'm saying. Anyway, 2025 was like a really hard, challenging year. And I think for a lot of us, the year of the snake.

A Year-End Reflection

The snake's all about shedding its skin, letting go, burning away everything that's not going to be going forward with us into 2026. And so I really want you to take a moment sometime today, over the next few days, and just really consider 2025.

What was the snake-like shedding for me? What was I invited to look at to let go of? And I know we've all heard that kind of thing a million bajillion times. It's like the astrology joke is like, hey, the astrology is going to present challenges that you must open to and overcome. But really, doing it is a different thing.

And so I just really encourage you to take a moment sometime today, if you can, sometime soon, and really think about what am I shedding? What was I asked to shed in 2025? So you can really see what you want to bring into 2026, and what maybe not so much, right?

2026 is the Year of the Horse

2026 is the year of the horse. Let's effing go energy. Last time in my podcast, I sat on the horse. I'm on it. I want you to visualize yourself on the horse. You're on it. You're squeezing it. It's so powerful. Can you feel its muscles, its capacity to run? Go and get shit done. Okay. But 2025 did not come to play. So we've got to revisit it.

The Life Lessons I Learned in 2025

And I want to tell you the life lessons that this wild year taught me, what the snake shedding skin taught me. And I invite you to do the same for your own life. For me, I think there's this false idea, and I always really, really try to kind of lay it out and bring it to light.

The Spiritual Path Often Isn't Easy

But there's this false idea that, like, if you are on the spiritual path, then you have your life together all the time. And why I love the Shakti School is that you can be launching a school and really, really having a heart for the divine, and still sometimes just really be like, wow, this is a lot, right? Rebuilding a burned-down house, navigating relationships, family, aging parents, tending to illnesses, children, pets, jobs. And yet what I learned in that is that life still comes up and knocks on the door and says, what are you going to make for dinner? And I know that is like a crazy thing that I learned, but I really did learn it, and it's like, do what you can do today to nourish yourself.

No matter what's going on in your life, divorce, illness, heartbreak, loss, grief, all of those things, we still have to cut vegetables, fry up a little oil and spices and nourish our bodies. What's for dinner? And it's honestly been in the moments where life felt the hardest, where I leaned the most into going to the gym and doing my yoga and doing my meditation and just chopping freaking vegetables and making kitchari and eating right. And I know that seems like a weird one, but I really thought that was important to share, because when life gets really hard, the self-care goes out the window, and that's also okay.

There were days, oh my God, during the fire where I was like, you know, eating granola bars on the front porch, right? So, number one. Number two, this wound is the way is more than just an annoying, at this point, internet meme. It's a life path, and it's a life path that I am 1,000% committed to.

Opening to the Messy Reality of Life

The parts of me that I don't like are the way. Opening to it, not wallowing in it, not identifying with it, not making a story about it, but opening to the places I feel so cracked open, broken, that's where the sacred slips back in. That's where it actually can be revealed.

That's where everything gets a lot more soft, like ghee. Number three, the archetypes show up not when we necessarily ask them, but when they are absolutely needed. And when my house stuff happened, I really felt this other thing show up, and it was strength, and it was like Durga energy.

It was like invincible love, right? Like, you've gotta do this. You've gotta do this. They're like cosmic first responders with ancient job descriptions.

Life lesson number four, when the divine wants you to transform, you're gonna be asked to transform, right? It's time. And I do not like it. Not one bit, right? But so often the things that are unexpected and unplanned for are the soul lessons being given.

Aging Parents

Another big thing I realized is that family is really important, and when your parents start to age and show signs of their temporality, we're walking right onto the holy ground. I won't go too deeply into all of it personally, but just looking at my parents this year and seeing the way their bodies are changing and their minds are changing has really been a place of a lot of sweetness and loving them, right, for who they are exactly as they are with what they give and feeling really grateful for them. And I know my mom listens to this podcast, and she's gonna be like, why are you saying my face looks old? My mother is the most beautiful woman in the world.

But yeah, just really using this time with our parents, with all their flaws and all their beauty, to just really appreciate them.

Life Lessons from Panchakarma

Ooh, ooh, ooh. Another big one for me was Panchakarma this year.

Really, I got to go twice to my favorite Panchakarma center, and I'm doing a whole podcast on this, so I don't want to spoil it, but Panchakarma remains the only legal psychedelic the Ayurveda world will admit to, at least. And we are going to have a whole podcast on the psychedelics of ghee. Maybe it already came out.

Anyways, psychedelics and ghee. Number seven, things not going as planned is the spiritual curriculum. God's favorite hobby, and I know I'm kind of repeating the same things over and over, but that's intentional.

God's favorite hobby is to gently, and sometimes not gently, dismantle your human agenda. And I think every year we have to go through a recalibration, and it can feel like a downgrade in order to up-level.

Another life lesson that I've realized, eight, oh my gosh, how much I love the Shakti School. I mean, it's every year I care about it more, I value it more, because selfishly of what it gives to me, just how great it is. Our students and our teachers are basically like mystical superheroes that are also like flawed humans. And every year our community gets bigger and stronger and funnier and deeper and wiser, and I love you.

I love you, Shakti School. Thank you for being in my life. And thank you to everybody who makes that happen.

Dreaming Big, Integrate the Life Lessons and Persevere

Another life lesson that I'm learning, and 2025 taught me, is making big plans is not always the best idea, and it's my favorite thing to do. But last year, every single freaking plan that I had, almost to a T, did not occur, at least not in the way I thought it was. And guess what? I'm going to still make big plans, because I think we're meant to.

I think we're meant to dream big, plan big, think big, dream big, and then watch the way that God laughs. So don't stop dreaming big, don't stop planning big, and know that, you know, a lot of it may or may not happen. And being in that kind of juxtaposition of what we want and what actually occurs and being okay with both, but also continuing to dream big is, I think, a really cool, cool way to be.

The last thing is, like, life's not going to slow down and chill out, and that's okay. It's not supposed to. If you're listening out there and you're young, like, you should be dreaming big.

The Stress Sandwich

If you're listening out there and you're in your 40s and 50s, Ayurveda calls this the stress sandwich of pitta, time of life. It's supposed to be intense, and that's okay. And if you're listening out there and you're in your 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 100s, like, it's supposed to be about do what you love.

Get those last remaining desires out of the way. Go on the trip, right? Get a hot boyfriend, Florida lady. Did you guys hear about this? The number one community for STDs is the aging community, and that's hilarious.

I don't want anyone to have STDs, but old people are getting it on, and I think that you should. You should live out those last desires, but then don't stay there, right? The last part of life is about letting go of everything and learning what your true essence is and your true spiritual home, which is your soul, your infinite nature. Life is not going to stop, and neither should you, and so I want you to create the thing that you want to create now.

Write the book now. Join the thing you've been waiting to join, right? Get involved. Do it.

Do the freaking thing. Heal now. Laugh now.

It's so cheesy, but, like, love the person now, and you got to do it all the while feeling like maybe you can't, and that's what I've learned this year just to keep going, and I hope that this inspires you to take some time in the new year to really consider what matters.

Thank You Listeners!

Thank you all for being a part of my experience through the podcast in 2025, and I wish you all the most beautiful new year. A big special thanks to Kevin Carlell of Goodbye Gemini, who wrote this beautiful podcast music, and to DJ Juan Pablo Jimenez in southern Spain for mixing it and making it magic.

Thank you.

Episode 236 Transcript:

It's your girl, your Ayurveda gal, Friday, Katie Silcox, coming to you. I'm twinkling. I'm spiriting. I'm Christmas feeling. I'm just here. I'm here with you. And I want to wish everyone out there a Merry Christmas, if you celebrate it. And if you don't, a Happy Holidays. A Happy Hanukkah. A Happy Kwanzaa. A Happy Winter Solstice.

You are alive.

It is the darkest time of the year. And in the darkest time of the year, we have to remember the light, don't we? And last night, I wrote an email about one of my all-time favorite Christmas carols, Oh, Holy Night. And there's a line in that beautiful carol that says, Oh, Holy Night.

Divine Surrender

It talks about surrender and divine, divine surrender. And there's this moment when we finally give it up, you know, and in the carol, it says fall on your knees. And I just, I want you to kind of feel what that feels like in your body. You may even kneel down to pray. And I know for me, there's this moment and it's so beautiful. It's like, it's like the best moments of the, of the week, of the month, of the years for me. And it's like this divine, holy recognition. And there's a quality of falling on the knees because that's all about letting the ego die and letting our heart open to the things about ourselves that we can't see. I mean, that's what a blind spot is, right? And so fall on your knees.

It's such an important moment in our psychology. And I want to read you a few more lines from the hymn, from the carol. And it says the soul felt its worth. The soul felt its worth. Holy moly, madre mia, right? How many of you out there, raise your hand, would think your life would be a little bit different if you walked around the day feeling like your soul could feel its worth. And this is an energy that I've been really interested in lately.

Feeling Your Worthiness

This idea of wealth, worthiness, richness versus, because this is what it feels like. It feels like a dichotomy, a paradox or a setup of opposition. And the opposite feeling is poverty. One of the hardest things for me to feel and really feel like I jump off of it. Like a frog in boiling water is the feeling of being inadequate. The feeling of being worthless, of not being chosen. And that stuff shows up in my life everywhere. And it's sneaky and it's covert. And my psyche, like a lot of you out there, like I would say everyone, creates remarkable strategies for hopping off of that particular feeling.

I really think that everything we see in our lives that is painful and suffering and tragedy, a lot of it, at least on the psychological, emotional, relational realm, comes from this big secret that we all feel like we have. And that is, I don't feel adequate. I don't feel worthy. I don't feel rich in the sense of richness of heart. I don't feel chosen. I don't feel wanted.

The soul felt its worth is that moment when you finally feel like you deserve love like anyone else, like you actually are something of immense value. That is what Oh Holy Night is about. It's about falling to your knees and letting all these old ideas and perspectives and versions of yourselves die in the darkest night of the year to plant the seeds of who you could possibly become.

Becoming More Yourself by Surrendering

Guess what? We want you to become. But the great irony is you all mystics out there know when you become, you realize you're just becoming what you already really were underneath all the shrouds. And the next line I want to share with you is the weary soul rejoices.

There's this great phrase in Buddhism where I don't remember the exact way it was said, but it's something like when you feel completely and utterly weary and exhausted on the level of your soul, it is now the time for rejoicing. It's like, hallelujah, I have finally fallen to my knees. It's like I'm yelling uncle at the gods, right? And it's in that moment where we really are softened by how hard it is to be a human.

The weary soul rejoices when finally I lay down all the weapons, all the defenses, all the strategies. For me, I want to share a big one, and I'm sharing it, it's not super fun, but I'm going to share it with you. Because I know there are so many of you out there that may resonate and that may support you.

Overvaluing the Intellect

And that is the strategy of being very analytical. Raise your hand if you overthink, overanalyze, overevaluate the evaluative mind. And it's not that that's bad.

It's just that so often for me, it's like I go straight to the intellect and I like to talk about it. I like to talk about it with my friends and especially like to talk about it with my boyfriend. It's like, I want to like, you know, I want to talk about us.

Like there's nothing wrong with talking about stuff, right? Talking about us, talking about your needs, talking, talking, talking. But sometimes it's a strategy that keeps me from feeling how, how scary it is to be loved and to be close to someone and how terrifying it is to be alive, to be human, to be in this world where the only thing that's true and forever is that things always are changing. Fall on your knees and hear the angel voices.

This past year of my life was banana sandwich, the year of the snake, the shedding, the burning, the sloughing, the exfoliation of everything that is not essential for me. And I know probably for many of you, 2025 was yet another experience of shedding skin. For me, it's felt like a constant lesson in, in loss, grief and yes, total and utter heartbrokenness.

Falling to Our Knees in Surrender

I wonder if it is in those moments when we finally fall to our knees in the loss, in the dreams that actually don't come true and that we're able to actually feel there's a certain freedom. I was about to say pleasure in being able to let go. We fall on our knees.

We have to. If we ever want to have any hope of standing up strong again of in the Christian tradition of resurrection and this time in this time of our Christian tradition and this idea of birth, right? Of the birth of something sacred. It's all here in that song.

It's when we feel our most small, our tiniest, that little manger in the cold, darkest night and the falling snow, our most befallen, the manger, this place of, of dirt and animals and hay and poverty. We can finally hear the voices of the angels. Something new is being reborn.

Death as a Teacher

There's a child, a knowingness breaks through all of that suffering and inner poverty and brokenness and cold, cold, dark night of the soul. And in that letting go, there is generative life, everlasting life. The Buddha said it too. He said, death is my teacher. I don't want any of you to die today. I don't want to die today. It's going to happen. But Buddha was not talking about his body. He was talking about his mind.

And so I invite us all today and in this season to let ourselves open to that feeling of falling, to that feeling of surrendering, to that feeling of not actually knowing anything. And in that, there is this great, great revelation that's possible. I know this may initially taste a little depressing.

It's like, wait, I want to focus on the light in the season of darkness. But the more we're able to actually open to what's hard, to let go of how we think things are or how they should be, our soul, as that song so beautifully says, can finally feel its worth. And this is a worthiness beyond anything outside.

When we can finally acknowledge by falling on our knees that we're not in control, nothing is forever, we are making offerings to the sacred mystery of life. We are rescued from our suffering. We are blessed by God.

Rebirth and Finding the Light

And then this amazing thing can start to happen again. And that's the birth, right? The juiciness, the excitement, the life, the life everlasting can flow back into our arteries and light can illuminate our darkened veins. This is the mystical holy.

This is the time right now of the divine night, where the Christ within us can be born again and again and again to be born again. With each gesture of surrender, we have this possibility of entering back into the gates of the holy. And I want you to know that no matter where you're from, no matter what you look like, no matter who you vote for, no matter who your mommy is and your daddy is, we want to be a home for you, a spiritual home.

It's a place of spiritual sovereignty, meaning you and the way you experience your own body and your own energy and your own mind and your own path to the divine. It is sacred. Here at Shakti school, we offer this orientation as we gear up right now, less than a month away.

I cannot believe it for our mega event. It starts in a few weeks. It is in this course of level one Ayurveda school where we hold space for you to deepen your life of spirit.

Plus all the great juicy lady Ayurveda lifestyle, nutrition and beyond. So listen up. I definitely cannot promise that 2026 will be a perfect year, but I do know it is the year of the horse galloping forward.

2026 is Big Ashwagandha Energy

Let's go! Let's do it. Strength, stamina, ashwagandha energy. Big ashwagandha energy, baby girl. Are you with me? If you're like, what is ashwagandha? It is an herb. It was a joke for you Ayurveda dorks. Ashwagandha means the strength of a thousand stallions. Baby girl, I'm ready.

Who is ready for 2026 to be the year of a big, strong steed? I feel my legs tingling. I'm on the horse. I'm squeezing onto the horse. Let's go. This is 2026.

So I cannot promise you that the year will be perfect. I can't promise you that our course is going to be a place free from loss or pain. It's just not possible.

Ayurveda has been teaching that your glow starts with digestion for thousands of years. When we tend our agni through simple daily rituals (tongue scraping, warm water, warm and spiced foods and yes… complete elimination 💩), assimilation improves, toxins clear, hormones regulate and vitality improves from the inside out.

Radiant wellbeing emerges when the system is supported.

You can never have too many aphrodisiacs. And thes You can never have too many aphrodisiacs. And these passion-inducing foods might already be in your kitchen: 🥑

Maca is known to enhance fertility and energy and boost libido with its adaptogenic properties.

Saffron is worth more than its weight in gold and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine as a women’s fertility support and hormone balancer for hundreds of years.

Chocolate, the quintessential ancient Aztec aphrodisiac, contains compounds that boost mood and arousal (phenylethylamine, serotonin and anandamide). It’s rich in PEA - “the love chemical.”

Strawberries (along with figs, plums, apples, pears and berries) have long evoked images of Eve and the feminine body. On a physical level, berries are packed with antioxidants.

Honey reminds us of our vital, life-bringing sap-the sweetness of passion and pleasure. It’s condensed effort, much like our human baby-making substances.

Arugula, also known as “rocket,” gives salads a boost of fire. In Italy, it’s said to enhance passion due to its peppery flavor.

Truffles are prized for their musky, earthy aroma and reputation as stimulators. Some even claim they have a pheromone-like scent that drives pigs wild - make of that what you will.

Ginseng, the holy grail of Chinese medicine, is a powerful nervous-system tonic shown to help the body adapt to stress and build vitality.

Avocados are rich, oily and deeply lubricating—supporting supple skin, collagen preservation and overall nourishment.

Walnuts resemble the brain and nourish it, too. They’re rich in omega-3s, vitamin E and polyphenols that reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.

Oysters, food of the lovers, are rich in B12, C and D, omega-3 fats, iron, selenium and copper-nutrients essential for sensual vitality.

Anything can be aphrodisiac if it builds Ojas - the subtle essence of youth, immunity, satisfaction and vitality. These foods help preserve that creative sap and that, Ayurveda says, is what makes us truly turned on. ✨
