Aphrodisiac Sweet Potato Sex Bomb Brownie Bites

Aphrodisiac Sweet Potato Sex Bomb Brownie Bites

A treat for you and your loved one...

My girl, ya know what’s missing in your kitchen today? Some of these sexy dark chocolate brownie bites. Every now and then (especially in my luteal phase) I start to crave a little bit of decadence, a little bit of mouth pleasure, and a little more magnesium too. Raw cocoa is one of nature’s superfoods and it’s here to make you feel so GOOD.

Did you know there is actually scientific evidence showing that dark chocolate (without sugar) is a powerful antioxidant which by consuming can help to improve your hormones, reduce bloating, and soothe the spirit?! (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4696435/)

Eating a little dark chocolate is also a perfect way to spark a little playfulness with your lover before heading to the bedroom.

If you don’t believe me, make them for yourself and let us know how it goes.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium large sweet potato (cooked and mashed)
  • 1 egg (or substitute a “chia egg”: 1 Tbsp chia seeds + 2 Tbsp water, stir, and let sit for 5 min)
  • ½ cup almond butter
  • ⅓ cup coconut flour
  • ⅓ cup coconut oil (or ghee)
  • ¼ cup raw cocoa
  • 5 pitted dates (you can also use coconut sugar or maple syrup)
  • ½ cup raw cocoa chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 tsp celtic salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp Ashwagandha
  • Optional Add ins: ½ cup of Raspberries (fresh or dried) ½ cup crushed macadamia nuts

Directions:

  • In a food processor add your mashed sweet potato, dates, spices, and almond butter. Process until smooth.
  • Meanwhile in a medium saucepan melt your oils and the raw cocoa on low
  • Once the oils have melted, transfer your ingredients from the food processor to a large mixing bowl, add your egg, flour, and remaining ingredients and mix well with a fork. Slowly pour in the oils. You want your mixture to be pretty thick, so you may need to add a tiny bit more oil or coconut flour depending on what your consistency is.
  • Lastly, mix in the chocolate chips and any other optional add ins (like nuts or berries)
  • Transfer to an 8 inch pan lined with parchment paper, bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
  • Let cool for about 2 hours before serving

Channeling Your Inner Dolly

What Dolly Parton can teach us about Acceptance, Fame & Feminine Wisdom

Channeling Your Inner Dolly

During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season we thought it would be nice to offer you a cozy read into the life and lessons from one of our favorite Shakti Mamas, Dolly Parton. If you're anything like our team, then you're probably up-to-date with the popular new podcast: Dolly Parton’s America {LISTEN HERE}, and if not then we just did you a favor (start from the beginning with episode 1).

It’s a remarkable and inspiring look into Dolly Parton’s life, career, and her impact on the South and beyond. However, what’s even more interesting to note about the series is how incredibly full of SHAKTI this woman is and how she sings to tell about it.

As mentioned in The New York times, Dolly Parton is the “saucey grandmother” of our time. She is accepting of all, she is confident, incredibly kind, and I can feel her nurturing ways just by listening to her music.

Dolly Parton is a force to be reckoned with. She grew up in the backwoods of Tennessee with her family of twelve. They were so poor that it is said her father paid for her birth with a bag of cornmeal! But, this didn’t seem to stop Dolly from going after her dreams.

Dolly Parton is a woman that embraces the fire of the feminine.

Struggling to find her way in the male dominated entertainment world, she eventually would go on to achieve more number one hits than any other female artist, of all time. And, she did this all while making friends with “the church ladies and the gays”.

Dolly has always been about acceptance and in reference to her popularity in these two (usually opposing) communities: the religious christian community and the gay community, she has stated,

“God tells us not to judge one another, no matter anyone’s sexual preference or if they’re black, brown, or purple. And if someone doesn’t believe what I believe, tough shit.”

It is so refreshing how candid Dolly Parton is. She doesn’t try to be anyone else but herself. She is proud of her roots yet she doesn’t try to hide or cover up any of the negative aspects of the troubled South. And, somehow she is able to speak her truth while still being steeped in a loving and compassionate state of being.

So, what can Dolly Parton teach the modern woman in Ayurveda school?

*To be a force

*Accept everyone despite their differences

*Be fully Yourself

*Live More in a state of Joy and Thanksgiving

*Never give up

Dolly says it best in the lyrics of the song Light of a Clear Blue Morning,

“I can see the light of a clear blue morning
I can see the light of a brand new day
Everything is going to be alright
Everything is going to be okay”

Let’s Talk About Sex

I am so happy that as a society we're talking about sexuality. Sexual assault, sexual harassment, weird-awkward-aggressive-sex-we-fled-from, etc. Yes, these are all convos about sex, our society’s relationship with it + with power and the dysfunctional social behaviors that manifest from that disintegrated relationship our society has with human sexuality. ⠀

Let’s rewind: Ayurveda teaches conscious channeling of sexual energy, valuing what they called Bramacharya: the wise use of this vital sexual energy. When we are using our sexual energy in a harmonious way, our whole life is infused with more enthusiasm around creative projects—whether that be a business, an artistic expression, or a baby. We also have better health in general because sexual energy is the most refined aspect of our life energy. The more energy we have, the better we feel. ⠀

But human sexuality is about much more than just “sex”. It’s a major pillar of our overall health and wellbeing (I wrote a book about it for a reason!). How do we use our attention and our body? If we look at one of the meanings of the word Bramacharya, we gain insight into what the ancients understood. One interpretation of the word is “to walk with God”; engaging sexuality intentionality, from the heart (your conscience, intuition, or Higher Self) before decision making.⠀

Having a connection to your physical and energetic sexual centers, is key in boosting your/society's health. As women we need to restore the vitality of our sexual energy center & help engage conscious forms of sexuality. When a woman feels tuned in to her sacred sexual essence, a new aliveness begins to pulse within in her. Her health improves. All of us are more balanced and we can usher in a new era.

You can read more in my book Healthy, Happy, Sexy and in our year-long Ayurveda Program which is all about healing our own and our ancestor's inherited patterns.

Oh, and this is a beautiful photo—also a sex photo, cause sexuality is an integral part of our daily lives, including pregnant and mom lives 😉 Let’s talk about sex more, I think everyone on earth would benefit from it.

Many of you know my house pretty much was totaled Many of you know my house pretty much was totaled in a fire. Lost most everything I owned in the span of a few hours.

I was amazed at my resiliency. Still am.

But I wanna’ be honest with you about my “aftermath.”

As the insurance “battles” mounted and the home rebuild “project” ensued, I have found myself asking myself to become even more disciplined than ever.

But that level of ask is hard on a woman’s body. We aren’t meant to always be “on.” We are not meant for war.

Women are not small men.

Over and over again over the past few months, I have had to remind myself that my biology is cyclical, rhythmic, relational and sensitive to stress. I need nourishment, sunlight, sleep, safety, touch, meaning, laughter and connection.

I’ve had to remind myself that I am not like my boyfriend, whose man-hormones largely operate on a 24-hour cycle. My body moves through an intricate symphony over the course of a month.
Ayurveda has understood this for thousands of years.

In Ayurveda, healing is not domination over the body. Healing comes from creating a loving relationship with the body.

The feminine system thrives with:

🌞 warmth
🌞 mineral-rich nourishment
🌞 adequate rest
🌞 cyclical living
🌞 pleasure without guilt
🌞 movement that energizes instead of depletes
🌞 deep breathing states
🌞 community
🌞 rhythm
🌞 enoughness

This does not mean women are weak.

It means women are powerful in a different way. And men need these things too.

As I do less and feel more, the results are pretty fast: sleep deepens, cravings calm, I have more energy to workout, my skin tone improves, my belly flattens and my desire to love-romp returns.

Here’s a reminder to myself and you in what can be challenging times: stop believing your worth is measured by how much exhaustion you can tolerate.

At The Shakti School, this is one of the deepest conversations we have with women.

We dive into all of this and more in our free course, Women’s Wisdom and Ayurveda. And it’s yours to dive into starting right now.

Just comment WISDOM below and I’ll send it to you. 🌹🌙

June marks the rise of pitta season in the Norther June marks the rise of pitta season in the Northern Hemisphere. 🔥🍉 That means more heat in the environment, which can translate to more heat in the body. Too much pitta might show up as irritability, skin flare-ups, acid reflux, loose stools or feeling like your fuse is running short.

It’s time to focus on supporting the liver and blood (sites where pitta typically accumulates) and cooling qualities to prevent excess heat from building up.

P.S. - For my Southern Hemisphere ladies… you’re moving deeper into the cool, dry vata season right now, so for you, it’s time to focus on balancing vata. 🌬️🌀

Some of the best foods for this month:

🍉 Watermelon is sweet, cooling and hydrating for our tissues.

🌺 Hibiscus tea is tart and brings coolness to the blood - perfect for pitta.

🫛 Sweet peas are nourishing and mildly sweet, without bringing too much heaviness.

🍋 Homemade lemon or limeade (especially when made with a little mineral salt and raw honey) replenishes essential minerals.

🌿 Aloe vera delivers the bitter taste directly to the liver and is traditionally used to cool excess pitta.

🥬 Bitter greens are especially supportive for healthy liver function.

🫖 CCF tea is an Ayurvedic staple that supports digestion without aggravating pitta.

🍌 Bananas help replenish fluids and calm irritated tissues.

🌱 Cilantro is one of Ayurveda’s favorite cooling herbs for excess pitta and heat in the blood. Top your meals with it!

🍍 Pineapple is super hydrating, and provides digestive support when eaten in moderation.

🌿 Mint cools the digestive tract and also helps cool the mind.

🥒 Cucumber is super hydrating - and they’re immediately cooling for pitta constitutions. Add to your water or salads!

🥥 Coconut water replenishes electrolytes and offers essential potassium.

🥬 Cabbage is great for digestion - cooling and slightly bitter.

🌾 Fennel is one of Ayurveda’s classic remedies for soothing heat in the digestive system.

Mama nature usually gives us clear indications of Mama nature usually gives us clear indications of her changes if we open our eyes to her subtlety. The more we can align with these rhythms, the easier it is to maintain body/mind health. Just as seasonal shifts transform the weather where we live, they also shake up the internal landscape within our bodies.

In the Northern Hemisphere, it’s time to start gently incorporating pitta-balancing elements into our food and lifestyle.

Depending on where you live, it’s generally a good time to lean into pitta-balancing practices when you start to notice:

☀️ Warmer temperatures

☀️ Longer daylight hours

☀️ A shift from the lush, wet heaviness of spring to a drier, sharper heat

☀️ Increased internal heat (like irritability, skin flare-ups or digestive intensity)

Most simply put, once you start feeling more heat and dryness in your body than you do watery heaviness, it’s a green light to start introducing some pitta-balancing practices into your routine.
