Ayurveda School Questions

What if I don't want to be a health coach? Can I do this just for me?
Yes! You don't have to be invested in becoming an ayurvedic health coach to reap all the benefits from this program. This is for anyone who wants to dive deep into themselves with guidance and deeply heal while learning from the masters of Ayurvedic wisdom. It's why we broke up the program into 2 levels. This program is an amalgamation of all I've learned about health and wellness + YOU are the #1 benefactor. It's my mentorship program on steroids, except that you are being mentored BY YOU and YOUR BODY. This is a course about investigating and healing our DNA and lineage. You cannot guide others if you yourself are stuck, so we start at home base.

What if I live in the woods in a yurt and don’t believe in the internet?
How fun! Unfortunately, being able to watch lectures and participate in group calls requires access to a reliable internet connection and a computer that can handle streaming. Much of the perks of this program is that it is ACCESSIBLE to most anyone willing to put in the time and show up. You don’t have to travel or drive anywhere, which is awesome. You can learn and grow from the comfort of your home. It’s like home schooling but better (and cooler) because your network of peers are badass woman from all over the world ready to rise out from the stale patriarchy and claim their health and abundance.

I've never even read a book about Ayurveda, can I still join?
Yes! We start from the very top. The best place to start is by reading my book Healthy, Happy, Sexy. It covers the basics and you’ll feel very confident about diving into Ayurvedic theory during the first few months of the course having had read that already.

How many hours a week should I plan to dedicate to this?
It depends on you and how deep you want to go. But we think the minimum is 5hrs per week. All the live classes are recorded and stored in our virtual classroom so you can watch and re-watch as much as you like. You have lifetime access to the content once you've paid off your tuition. Remember, each level of the program is a year-long - you have time. Make space for and commit to the weekly lectures just like you would for any higher education or professional training program. Slow + steady wins the race everytime! =)

What will I be certified in?
The Shakti School curriculum of study is based on the highest standards and requirements for online Ayurveda education. Upon completion of our Level One program, Shakti School students will be certified as Ayurvedic Wellness Coaches (Level 1), and upon completion of our 2-year program, as Ayurvedic Health Counselors. We are also proud to announce that our students, with proof of proper insurance and course completion can fully practice Ayurveda lifestyle counseling within the scope of study as a Level 1 or Level 2 counselor. Our school is a member of the Association of Ayurvedic Professionals of North America, and upon course completion, our students can also become members of this registry.

What is the current state of Ayurveda regulation in the U.S. and internationally?
Currently in the U.S. and abroad, Ayurveda and health coaching are unregulated industries. Shakti School is building a pillar for women’s healing traditions in that void. Our graduates will be listed on our website's directory of feminine-form Ayurvedic counselors, but will need to inform themselves on the laws and regulations in their country. During our training program, we will inform students of current legal limitations and considerations.

The world of healthcare is in transition because the system is broken. There has never been a better time to join the movement of holistic health practitioners that are going to shape the healthcare world for generations to come.

What if I'm not a yoga teacher, or never worked for myself? Can I still be a successful coach?
Yes, absolutely! You'll learn all the basics, and more, in our business and empowerment module. Plus, you'll be surrounded by friends all going through the same process of starting or elaborating on their careers. It's never been easier and more accessible for woman to start and run businesses. Have courage!

How does the payment plan work?
Your first monthly payment is processed on the day you register. The remaining monthly installments are deducted from your payment source on the same day each month going forward until the end of the payment plan. We cannot change the date of when the payment is deducted from your account. So if there is a particular day you wish to have the payment deducted, for example on the 5th of each month, then please register on the 5th of the month.

Do you offer scholarships?
Yes, please review our scholarship process here.

I have some BIG news!! ✨ I am SO excited to offic I have some BIG news!! ✨

I am SO excited to officially welcome the incredible Salila Sukumaran as one of The Shakti School’s newest teachers! ❤️

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Salila on my Spirit Sessions podcast for a beautiful, juicy conversation about feminine embodiment, the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and what it really means to come home to our bodies.

We dove into the power of Shakti, ancestral wisdom, feminine sovereignty and the importance of reconnecting with the deep intelligence and wisdom that lives within us as women.

One of my greatest passions has always been bringing the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda into the lives of modern women in a way that feels accessible, nourishing and deeply empowering.

And this is why I’m SO thrilled to have Salila joining us at The Shakti School! She brings such a beautiful depth of knowledge, a rich Ayurvedic lineage, and a unique perspective on what it means to truly EMBODY this wisdom.

There is something so powerful about women coming together to share, teach and keep these ancient traditions alive. And I couldn’t be more excited for our students to learn from her!

It was the end of our Level 2 last year, a class w It was the end of our Level 2 last year, a class where we give women time and space to really share what the two years of Shakti Ayurveda School have meant for them (yes, this can be a one or two year adventure). And a woman said something I will never forget - “I’m becoming the woman of my dreams.”

It hit me in all the right places and even made me self reflect.

Am I the woman of my dreams? And if I had a dream woman, what would she be like?

She would be kind, hold dignity, love her body and try to keep it safe and healthy and warm. She would give herself grace when she failed or tripped up in life. She would smile lovingly at herself when she said the wrong thing at a party or a date or a conference. She would eat good nourishing food and be OK with the fact that she didn’t look like the women in a magazine.

But mostly, she would use this one and sacred life to learn the lessons of her soul, and feel alive in her mission to help others do the same.

We are genuinely here to support you in becoming THAT woman. Or even better said, in dusting off all the veils that block you from seeing that You Are Her Now. We truly find that the LIVE Ayurveda experience offers a magic that you will see in our classroom. And that magic translates to anyone doing the course at their leisure the rest of the month.

True. Ayurveda. Magic.

Ladies! Only a couple more weeks to get $500+ off this women-our-your-dreams year with our current early bird pricing. I will be there. And so will so many other dream seekers. Will you?

💚 Comment AYURVEDASCHOOL for more information about our earlybird tuition!

🍁 Here’s your inspo:

• Get cozy with herbal teas (and stoke your digestive fire). Make a big pot of ginger tea & sip throughout the day.
• Give yourself an oil massage with warm sesame oil. Sesame is nourishing, warming & perfect for Fall.
• Soak Fall-goddess style. Add 1/4 cup ginger powder & epsom salts to your bath.
• Grab some warming essential oils like geranium, mahanarayan and vetiver (you can add those to the bath, too!)
• Have a cozy night in. Fall is when we naturally start turning inwards—permission to stay in & get some extra sleep!
• Get in the kitchen! Whip up a vata-reducing churna (spice blend) to sprinkle on your meals.
• Become BFF’s with your crock pot. Bone broth, spiced stews and soups are balancing for Fall.
• Light a fire. Fall is a time for dying off and letting go. Get quiet, journal and burn what you’re ready to let go of.
• Unplug before sunset. Give your eyes and nervous system a break from screens and let candlelight guide your evenings.

OMG y'all! Katie here. Ok, so apparently the 90s a OMG y'all! Katie here. Ok, so apparently the 90s are now VINTAGE. 😂📺 And this hilarious meme got me thinking about one of the deepest principles of Ayurveda…

MAMA MEDICINE. ❤️

You see, one of the first principles of Ayurveda is to remind someone who is sick that they are going to be WELL.

Fill them with love. Nourishing foods. Comforting words. Hugs. Remedies. And that beautiful feeling that someone is taking care of you.

Because sometimes the most powerful medicine isn't an herb or a supplement.

It's the feeling of being LOVED.

When I was a little girl, my mom's sick-day prescription was ginger ale (we NEVER got soda unless we were sick!), saltines, Campbell's chicken noodle soup with those slimy noodles and suspiciously soft orange carrots…And UNLIMITED TV. 😂

Little did she know I was downstairs watching JERRY SPRINGER and frying my developing brain on the absolute worst of 1990s American culture. 🍳📺🤣

But to this day, those memories make me feel so warm and loved. Because it was never really about the chicken soup. It was about being taken care of. And THAT is powerful medicine.

So I wanna know…

👇 WHAT WAS YOUR MAMA'S SICK-DAY STACK?

Was it ginger ale? Vicks VapoRub? Chicken soup? The Price Is Right? Some bizarre family remedy that probably should have been illegal? 😂 Please tell me, I gotta know!

COMMENT BELOW and tell me what your mama (or whoever raised you!) gave you when you were sick.

💕 And TAG YOUR MOM, SISTER, OR BESTIE who remembers this era of questionable remedies and unconditional love.

Because sometimes the best medicine is simply knowing somebody loves you.

That's MAMA MEDICINE. ❤️🍜
